Wandered into The Virgin Megastore in Times Square today, just five days before it closes forever. The “50% Off Everything!” signs pulled me in, I guess, but there wasn’t muchto keep me there. Huge amounts of Guitar Hero action figures, stacks of the brand new limited edition No Line On The Horizon box set, a bunch of Coldplay, Travis, surprising amounts of LCD Soundsytem and Marnie Stern. They’ve got a trashed vinyl import of Charlotte Hatherley’s THE DEEP BLUE that I still would have considered if the original price hadn’t been $24.
Found a few other possibilities, but since I’ve basically stopped buying CDs and the discount made the ones I wanted about the same price as buying the mp3s on Amazon, I walked out empty-handed. There’s always Union Square. Oh wait.
