Katy Perry: “Teenage Dream”

I like this a lot better than “California Gurls.” The gap isn’t as massive as it was between “I Kissed a Girl” and “Hot n’ Cold” but it’s wide enough that I’ve listened a few times already today. Every time, at the point near the end between when Perry sings “let you put your hands on me in my skintight jeans,” I hear the Gchat tone that happens when someone tries to chat you and you’re in another window, right there between “skin” and “tight.” (The noise also boinks in just after “no regrets, just love” the first time through.)

Just in case you were wondering, why yes, that boink does make it more difficult for me to take seriously Perry’s description of love turning to lust boiling down to immortal youth. It immediately reminded me of the sonic detail Matthew described here, but with the opposite effect.
